Mr Adnan Safdar

Mr Safdar – Specialist Otolaryngologist, Head & Neck Surgeon

 

Mr Safdar commenced his basic surgical training in Ireland before being appointed as a Specialist Registrar in the Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery training program of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He subsequently obtained a Postgraduate Degree in Otolaryngology from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

He completed two prestigious fellowships in Head and Neck Surgery at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Western Hospital, and Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne. In 2009, Mr Safdar was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.

Since 2017, Mr Safdar has served as the Head of the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Monash Health. He was also a Supervisor of Training for Victorian surgical trainees in the specialty until 2019.

Mr Safdar is an active contributor to clinical research, with multiple publications and presentations at both national and international scientific meetings with his most recent publication being in 2023.

A dedicated educator, Mr Safdar is deeply involved in teaching medical students, nursing staff, and surgical registrars. He maintains a strong commitment to professional development and regularly attends national and international conferences and workshops to refine and expand his surgical skills.

Mr Safdar is also engaged in global health outreach and, for the past three years, has been part of a team of ENT surgeons providing free ear surgeries in Cambodia.

His clinical practice encompasses the full spectrum of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, with particular interests in benign and malignant head and neck pathology, ear disorders, paediatric ENT, and the management of snoring and sleep-related breathing disorders.
